Getting Games from Your Head Referee

Each Friday, from 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m., if you are available and interested to referee for the following week, you must email me at headref_pysc@sympatico.ca and let me know when you are available for that week.

-         You should email me only if you are available for the following week, which means, if you know that you will not be available for the following week, you do not have to email me. If you do not email me, it means that you are not available to referee the following week, or not interested.

-         Please, do not give me long range availability. You are required to email me each Friday with your availability for the following week only. The reason why I do not accept long range availability is that your plans might change and you might forget to notify me about that.

-         Please, do not email me with your availability during the week, but only on Friday, since that is the only day that I collect the data about your availability.

Our games are always from Monday to Thursday, usually at 6:30 p.m. When you email me, just indicate which days of the following week you are available. During the weekend, I will email you with a spreadsheet that indicates where and when you are refereeing. Upon receiving this email, you must reply to confirm that you received the email and that you are OK with the assignment. You must reply before 9:00 p.m. on Sunday. Failure to do so will result in the game being taken away from you and assigned to someone else.

Your games are assigned to you only by the Club Head Referee. You should not accept any games by your colleagues, since you are not allowed to switch games or to fill in for somebody else.

You cannot assign your game to someone else, after you have accepted it. If you do so, the person that accepted the game from you will not be paid for the game. If you need out of your game, you must have a serious health concern, e.g., illness or injury, or a family emergency. You must contact me. I am the only one that can reassign the game to someone else. The reason why it changed from last year is because some referees were abusing the rule as it was. Failure to comply with the new rule will result in penalties according to the club’s policies.
