JUNE NEWSLETTER 2011

Dear referees,

First month of season is over and everything seems to go well. We had some cancellations due to the weather but for most part things were consistent and efficient. I am very pleased with your work and the positive feedback that I am receiving.

Few highlights:

-          Uniforms: Please make sure that you wear proper uniform (stockings, shoes, shorts). Please make sure that you always look sharp (tuck your shirt in; pull up your socks, always wear your badge). Some of you did not and I wasn’t impressed when I saw you like that.

-          Punctuality: Please make sure to respect the deadlines . If you have sent your availability then it is for certain that I will reply with a game so please make sure that once you send it, you check your email regularly. Once you receive it, please reply on time.

-          Stats: Please make sure that you read the requirements about what you are supposed to report to the statistician. Major point: No number but names. I know different clubs ask for different things. When you work for us we want the names. Also please make sure that you do report by 9:30 on the same night.

-          Game sheets: Ask the coach for one at the beginning of the game. If they offer it to provide it at half time, that’s still OK. They are not obliged to provide one but they do know that it helps everyone when they hand it in so if you insist and know how to ask I am certain that they will. Once you report and you are certain that the statistician has received it ( she will reply to you if you email the scores) please discard the game sheet ( make sure you rip it of since there are phone numbers in there sometimes).

-          Hot weather: Feel free to give water break if asked. Make sure to indicate to them that your watch is running (that’s the guideline from OSA; not to stop the time so teams don’t use the water break to stall time). It’s preferred that they ask at the beginning of the game, but please try to accommodate the request, even if it comes during the game.

-          Cancellation: The executive is working on a policy about the cancelled games and the way of reimbursing the refs (we will check with OSA guidelines and other club’s policies and then we will decide).

-          AWT (All Winners Tournament) aka as Ron Thompson tournament is on the weekend of June 11&12. Please right down those dates and spare some times to ref. All youth games U5-U12 are on Saturday. All senior games U14-U18 are on Sunday. I will send a reminder this Thursday to everyone: I will ask you all that when you send me on Friday, June 3 your availability for the following week, please also indicate your availability for the tournament: Saturday, Sunday or both, A.M or P.M or All day. Note: Please remember that if you are not available for the following week, you can still email me just with your availability for AWT and also if you are not available for AWT you can still email me your availability just for the following week.

-          Please remember that if you will not be refereeing at all till the end of June for our club your name will be removed from the list of refs for PYSC. The only exception is for those referees who have already provided a reason why they are not reefing yet and who have indicated that they are planning to ref for sure for our club later on the season.

If you have any question or concern ,please feel free to contact me at anytime,

Yours in soccer,
