March Newsletter 2010

Dear referees of PYSC,

We have been informed by OSA that they will send a letter to everyone who is a District Ref or Youth District Ref in mail and in it they will include all the instructions as to how to renew your membership ( I believe that both options will be available, on line and by mail). Wait for the letter and follow the instructions.Refreshing (Educational) Clinic: For those of you who need to attend an educational
clinic the next one (you must attend one of three clinics that we offer) is on Thursday March 25 at 7:00pm at Eastgate Park  Building ( Please notice that it is not the Comfort Inn anymore as it has been announced in the past but rather the Eastgate Park building, which by the way will be the location for our next educational clinic in April as well). The instructor will be Don Wiles and the topic of the clinic will be: Law # 12.Also please notice that the clinic is shared between PYSC referees and the referees of the OSRA Peterborough's branch. Some of you belong to both parties and some of you only to one of them. In either case, your are fine. As long as you attend the clinic you have fullfilled the requirments from OSA about the mandatory educational clinic.

Entry Level Clinic:

For those of you who were Mini Level Referees last year but are turning 14 by March 31 of this year, you need to attend the Entry Level clinic on March 27 and 28 at Adam Scott from 9:00am-5:00pm. The instructor is Mike Smith. Some of you were wondering as to what the Pre-clinic is. It is just an envelope with information that will help you to be prepared for the clinic although it is my understanding that you will complete a test on it too. Mike is getting in touch with you to make sure that you get it. Most of you have already got it.Differently from the Mini Level clinic, the Entry Level clinic has a test at the end of it. You are required to pass the test to be a District Ref or Youth District Ref, however, please don't put too much pressure on yourselves. Regardless of your score you will still be eligible to ref for our club. The OSA will give those of you who will not be able to pass the classification of the Recreational referees and
our club will still work with you, regardless of your score. Also if you  will not pass, you will get a chance to retake the test within the same  year, free of charge( As usual Mike will be in touch with you). However, I am pretty sure that you will do well so no worries. Also,  because you are taking the Entry level clinic on March 27 & 28 that means that you don't have to take the refreshing(educational ) clinics.

Thank you,

Fevri
